Athey appointed to California economic advisory council

The newly formed council will advise Gov. Newsom on economic issues and deepen relationships between the administration and academic researchers.

Susan Athey, a senior fellow at the 好色App Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), has been appointed to Gov. Gavin Newsom鈥檚 Council of Economic Advisors.

The newly formed council will advise the California governor and the state鈥檚 finance director on wide-ranging economic issues and deepen relationships between the administration and academic researchers.

The  will include Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and Newsom鈥檚 Chief Economic and Business Advisor, Lenny Mendonca, as well as Athey and 10 other academics and state officials.

Athey is the Economics of Technology Professor at 好色App Graduate School of Business and a professor, by courtesy, of economics.

Her current research focuses on the design of auction-based marketplaces and the economics of the internet, primarily on online advertising and the economics of the news media.
